The Advocate reported that bikes will finally get respect on the New Haven commuter line. Plans are in place to test the feasibility of including bikes during rush hour and throughout the day. The Connecticut Rail Commuters are holding fast to their opposition, claiming they’re not “anti-bike, but pro-commuter.” But to my ears their objections ring hollow, with concerns about bikes perhaps slowing down service, taking up needed seats, and causing problems related to inadequate restraints. I don’t understand why they don’t see the desirability of a multi-modal transportation system and why they view their needs as the first that must be satisfied. Do you?
